CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Lower Township Police Chief Donald Vanaman announced the arrest of Hector L. Melendez, 31, of Villas, on drug-distribution charges.
On June 10, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force concluded a joint investigation into the distribution of controlled dangerous substances by Melendez.
On the same date, authorities executed court-authorized search warrants at Melendez’s home. As a result of the search, authorities seized more than a half-ounce of cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, various items of paraphernalia associated with the distribution of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) and a large sum of U.S. currency, according to authorities.
Melendez was charged with distribution of CDS, possession of cocaine, money laundering, possession with intent to distribute drug paraphernalia and possession of psilocybin mushrooms.
Melendez was processed and lodged at the Cape May County Jail.
