The Cape May Point Veterans Memorial was dedicated with a public ceremony on Veterans Day, May 25. Sponsored by the Cape May Point Taxpayers Association on behalf of the Veterans Memorial Committee, the event opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of the national anthem. Commissioner Suzanne Yunghans, Mayor Anita vanHeeswyk and retired U.S. Coast Guard Vice Adm. Jim Hull spoke to more than 150 members of the public who had gathered for the ceremony. Commissioner Elise Geiger read the names of Cape May Point veterans and a Coast Guard bugler played Taps as a wreath was laid in memory of the nation’s fallen service members.
