USCG Community Festival returns to TRACEN May 17

CAPE MAY — The annual Coast Guard Community Festival returns to Training Center of Cape May on Saturday.

Located at 1 Munro Ave. in Cape May, TRACEN will host the event, sponsored by the Cape May City Coast Guard Community Foundation, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 17

The event offers the public a rare inside look at the workings of an active-duty U.S. Coast Guard base, its vessels, aircraft and the missions it performs.

The festival typically attracts more than 5,000 people who come to tour vessels, witness the precision of the silent drill team and marching of the recruits, live demonstrations by the search and rescue, first responder and security teams.

Whether arriving by foot or trolley, festival-goers will find many exhibitors offering a variety of food, games, cultural exhibits and merchandise, along with a Kids Zone.

Live music will feature Kenny Curcio along with his entire band. Admission is free,

Pennsylvania Avenue will be one-way for the duration of the event and include trolley stops. Bicycle racks will be available outside the main gate. Dogs are prohibited.

Valid identification will be required and all bags are subject to inspection.
