TERRY KIRKPATRICK GUZMAN, 77

Nov. 29, 1947- March 30, 2025

Terry Kirkpatrick Guzman passed away March 30, 2025, in Sarasota, Fla., surrounded by her family.

She was the loving wife of Rafael Guzman, her husband of 53 years. Terry, a longtime resident of Cape May, was raised in Fort Smith, Ark. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1969 and received her juris doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1973.

Her legal career was committed to service; private practice as a member of the first all-female law firm in Arkansas, assistant attorney general for the state of Arkansas, law clerk to the Arkansas Supreme Court and staff attorney for the House of Representatives impeachment committee of Richard Nixon.

Her most rewarding years were spent as a professor and director of the legal clinic at this University of Arkansas School of Law.

Terry will be most remembered for her love of cooking and entertaining for family and friends. She always welcomed you with an infectious smile and her catch phrase, “What can I get you?,” which became the title of a cookbook she published in 2010.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her step-daughters and their husbands — Elizabeth and Charles Harris and Katheleen Guzman and William Foster — and six adored grandchildren — Charles (Skylar), Lindsay (Zach) and Matthew Harris, William, Jack and Ted Foster — and two great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her two brothers — Neal Kirkpatrick and wife Rosemary, and Dennis Kirkpatrick and wife Kathy — and numerous nieces and nephews who held a very special place in her life.

She was proceeded in death by her brothers Kelly Kirkpatrick and Micheal Kirkpatrick.

Terry will be missed dearly and joyfully remembered.
