JOHN H. SHAW, 96

John H. Shaw, age 96, passed away peacefully Sept. 19, 2026.

John, more affectionately known as Jack, was a man deeply devoted to his faith, his community and, above all, his family.

He was a dedicated member of St. Peter’s by the Sea and the Church of the Advent. He found great joy in his church community and lived his faith through action.

Jack was a proud veteran, as he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Afterward, he never stopped serving his community, spending countless hours volunteering as a softball coach, Coast Guard Auxiliary member and especially with the Cape May Point Volunteer Fire Company. Jack was also a proud member of Cape May Point’s Beach Boys — who built the Point’s beach entrances.

Married 73 years, Jack and Lorraine were a team united through love. They connected on being avid boaters, they loved exploring the Chesapeake Bay on their beloved trawler, The Shawnee III, enjoyed the South Florida winters in Venice and cool summers in their Cape May Point home.

He loved family time spent together for holidays and vacations. Jack leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, and a life well lived.

More than anything, Jack loved his family. He was a devoted husband to Lorraine; father to Linda, John, Dee and Nancy; grandfather to John, Ashley and Todd; and great-grandfather to Braydon, Cole and Savanah.

Jack will forever be remembered as a Gentleman, but more importantly, a Gentle-Man.
