Glenda Hessler Unzelmann, 88, passed away Sept. 9, 2026. She was born May 27, 1938 in Montoursville, Pa., daughter of Glenn Harvey Hessler and Grace Bitler Hessler.
She attended Susquehanna University before moving in 1958 to Boston, where she was employed by Eastman Dillon Union Services. She was an active board member of the Greater Boston Young Republican Club and a regular reader at the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown.
Glenda married Werner Unzelmann in 1962. They resided at Fort Devens, Mass., before being transferred to Germany. Returning from Europe, they resided in Hartford County, Md., where Glenda served on the board of the Harford Day School in Bel Air, Md., and the Historical Society of Harford County.
She was employed by Alex Brown & Sons in Baltimore for 30 years before moving to Cape May in 1999. Glenda served on the vestry of Christ Church in Rock Spring, Md., and as a vestry member and senior warden at Church of the Advent in Cape May.
Glenda was a board member of the Garden Club of Cape May. She was a member of the Beach Club of Cape May and the Corinthian Yacht Club.
She is predeceased by her husband, Werner, and her parents and brother Don Hessler. She is survived by her three daughters: Christiana Wert (Brian), Susanna Riecks (Randall) and Andrea Putnam; grandchildren Jacob Putnam, Maxwell Putnam, Cooper Wert and Sophia Wert.
