Caper Tigers medal at CMC track meet, compete at CALs

OCEAN CITY – The Caper Tiger girls started off the 2025 Cape May County Track and Field Championships on their home field Monday, May 5.

Three juniors swept the top three places in the 400-meter hurdles.

Ella Biersbach won with a time of 1:08.69; Jasmine Black was second and Jenna Hill third.

Black won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.9 seconds. Teammates Adeline Pacevich, a sophomore, was eighth, and freshman Olivia Williams was ninth.

LCMR sophomore Katarina Ojasoo was second in the pole vault, clearing 7’6”. Teammate Ella Osmundsen was fourth in the event.

Teammate Kaitlyn Flynn, a senior, was second in the discus with her throw of 84’4”. Pacevich was fifth in the discus and Grace Dematteis seventh.

Flynn (57’4”) was ninth in the javelin with teammates Dematteis and Kirsten Tostevin 10th and 11th.

Flynn also took second in the shot put with her throw of 28’7”. Tostevin and Dematteis were eighth and ninth.

Caper Tiger junior Adrina Kennedy was fourth in the 100 meters, 2/100ths of a second behind Middle Township’s Riley Odom, who finished in 13.44 seconds. Kennedy’s time was 13.46 seconds.

Hill was fifth in the 800 meters in a time of 2:45.42 and sixth in the 400, finishing in 1:06.61. Freshman teammate Avery Proud was 10th in the 400.

In the 200-meter dash, Biersbach was second in 27.03 seconds, behind Ocean City’s Ella Miller, who won in 25.7 seconds. Kennedy and Williams were seventh and eighth.

Caper Tiger Hanna Souder was sixth in the 3200 meters in 13:46.29 with teammate Hailey Serra ninth. Souder was seventh in the 1600 with her time of 6:20.74. Proud and Serra were ninth and 10th.

The LCMR girls 4×400 relay was third.

Caper Tiger freshman Zoey Heaney was fifth in the high jump, clearing 4’4”. Teammate Abigail Amenhauser, a freshman, was seventh at 4’2”.

Red Raider girls swept the top three places in the long jump with Caper Tigers Black, Williams and Kennedy taking the next three. Black leapt 15’8”.

In the triple jump, Kennedy was third at 32’5”, teammate Rian Rivers, a freshman, was fifth. 

The OCHS girls won the team title with 177 points. Middle was second with 77 and LCMR a close third with 69 points. The Wildwood girls scored 7 points and Wildwood Catholic 4.

Boys at CMC meet

In the 400 hurdles, LCMR sophomore Christopher Duley was third. 

Fellow Caper Tiger Aiden Formento was third in the 110 hurdles and teammate Duley was fourth.

Lower’s Jose Ramos was fourth in the 200-meter dash.

Ramos was third in the long jump with his leap of 19’4”.

Ramos was second in the triple jump at 39’9.5” and teammate Lennon O’Donnell was fourth.

Duley was fifth in the javelin.

Lower’s Samuel Lake was fifth in the shot put at 39’1”.

The Red Raider boys won their 17th straight meet with 210 points. Middle Township was second with 69 points, Lower Cape May Regional third with 29, Wildwood Catholic fourth with 13 and Wildwood High School fifth with 12.

Cape-Atlantic League Track Championship

A number of Caper Tigers competed in the Cape-Atlantic League Track and Field Championship May 10 at Buena Regional High School.

Biersbach was third in the long jump at 17’6.25”
