Car fire on Garden State Parkway

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – A car burned for a few minutes on the northbound side of the Garden State Parkway about a mile north of Exit 6 Tuesday evening, April 7, before firefighters from the Middle Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 arrived to extinguish it.

With Middle Township Police Department personnel on the scene, traffic was able to pass by the unoccupied vehicle as the fire raged on its front end, spilling some burning fuel onto the grass by the parkway. The firetruck from the company arrived within minutes and a firefighters used a foam to quickly extinguish the blaze.

While the fire was being extinguished, police stopped traffic on the northbound side of the parkway.

No more details were immediately available.
