Skeletal remains found in Whitesboro

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Skeletal remains believed to be those of an adult were located last week in a wooded area of Middle Township.

Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Middle Township Police Chief Tracey Super announced that a county resident walking March 3 in a wooded area of the Whitesboro section of the township discovered what appeared to be a human skull.

Investigators from the Middle Township Police Department, Lower Township Police Department, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, the Cape May County Land Search and Rescue Team and the New Jersey Department of Corrections Land Search and Rescue Team conducted a coordinated search of the surrounding area and discovered the remains.

A positive identification had not been made as of press time. Sutherland stated that the investigation remains ongoing, and that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
